BORDER Rebel will accept for Wednesday's Grafton Ramornie but trainer Sue Grills is sweating on a good draw for the country star.

Grills is disappointed with the 60kg Border Rebel has been allotted and is resigned to his future racing being in weight-for-age races.

Grills was leaning towards not starting in the race, but owner Veronica Scott-Mason was keen to make an attempt with the big weight.

"He will probably run, depending on the barrier draw," Grills said.

"As I have said before, even though he has won 12 from 16, he has never won a Group race or beaten a horse with recent Group race form.

"Yet he is rated like a group horse and I think he has been weighted way above his best.

"He will have to stick to weight-for-age races after this."

Despite her disappointment with Border Rebel's big weight, Grills said the four-year-old had come through his Takeover Target Stakes win in good order.

Border Rebel rises a further 1.5kg on that win and Ben Looker replaces the suspended Tim Bell.

"Ben's had just the one ride on him for a win at Canterbury last year," Grills said.

The Tamworth trainer will also saddle hardy veteran Ollie Vollie in the Ramornie, with Greg Ryan to ride.
